Quick reality check . . .
There were many rapists in Westport but the newspaper helped to sensationalize a series of local crimes in order boost ads sales & subscriptions at the outset of their fall from the top of the media game.
The story about a survivor is important but . . . Like it or not, dead-tree media played a bit part in sensationalizing the story not so long ago.
"Her attacker, Gary Lee Jackman, 71, is up for parole after being convicted in 2006 and and sent to prison with 11 concurrent life sentences in her rape and a string of other violent crimes. He has admitted to more than 60 rapes between southern California and Kansas City."
