Kansas City Royals Owner John Sherman FAILS Legacy Of Mr. K

Today we remember a Kansas City icon and a truly great person who helped to build our city . . .

Ewing Marion Kauffman was best known as the founder and original owner of the Kansas City Royals Baseball Club. Kauffman moved to Kansas City at the age of eight. In 1950, he founded Marion Laboratories, Inc.; a pharmaceutical manufacturing firm. He guided the company from a net profit of $1,000 in its first year to sales that now exceed $3 billion annually. He also established the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation to promote philanthropic efforts devoted to education and entrepreneurship.

Kauffman won numerous awards for his efforts, including Man of the Year in 1973 by the Kansas City Press Club; Missouri Sports Hall of Fame; the Horatio Alger Award; Kansas Citizen of the Year by the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; and the Distinguished Service Award from the American Legion. He was also honored as the 16th point of light in President George Bush's "Thousand Points of Light" tribute and received the Good Neighbor Award from the Harry S. Truman Foundation.

Far beyond his death Mr. K continues to loom large over local life as his charitable deeds and love for entrepreneurship power one generation after the next.

Now . . .

Let's consider the BILLIONAIRE BEGGING FOR TAX BREAKS . . .

Again .  . . His plan is secretive & sketchy. Most local reporters on Twitter noted that his "community forum" was fake and nearly as locked down as a police station.

His low-ball tactic regarding taxpayer funds is another disservice to the conversation. A downtown stadium is going to cost 5 BILLION BUCKS BARE MINIMUM and dancing around the price tag won't bring it any lower.

More to the point . . .

People & biz will be displaced. There's no getting around it. Sugar coating it with presser happy talk isn't going make anyone feel better about losing their life's work so that a billionaire has better luxury box seats.

In the final analysis . . .

SECRECY & MISLEADING STATEMENTS DEFINE JOHN SHERMAN'S REIGN AS ROYALS HONCHO SO FAR!!!

Mr. K was devoted to community, family and fostering growth by way of sparking local business.

The new guy seems like he's just out to make a buck from backdoor deals.

You decide . . .
