Kansas City Playlist: Petition Crunch Time Panics Many Local Politicos

Tonight we take a peek at a practical part of Kansas City politics that helps us separate the serious candidates from the pikers on social media.

Next week starts candidate filing which concludes near the end of the month.

Cold weather, less daylight and a disengaged voting public threaten "grassroots" candidates who don't have the cash to pay supporters to do their work.

For a hopefuls with little or no money . . . Collecting 600 to 1000 valid voter signatures can be a daunting task when the weather isn't cooperating . . . That's why our city's leaders placed this sign-up period in December to help preserve the status quo.

Already there have been a few surprises at the outset of an election year but the start of candidate sign ups officially begin Kansas City "silly season" which will likely keep us entertained during yet another "dark winter" under the rule of Prez Biden.

Accordingly . . .

We encourage voters to help out their favorite candidates with a signature and BE NICE to those poor souls who hit the streets during December in order to keep our Democracy intact.

And ALL OF THIS inspires our TKC PLAYLIST tonight on the topic of petitions, sign ups and signs of every sort . . .

A jazzy & reasonably good cover of an 80s classic from one of our favorite lady singers . . .

As always, this blog is NOTHING without 90s nostalgia and occasional tribute to the Swedes.

A 90s cover of a 60s protest song provides a bit of a political spin . . .

This anthem by Prince pretty much defined 1987 in the U.S. and was surprisingly popular even if it's a bit of a bummer . . .

Possibly our favorite song on the topic of signs, an iconic 60s tune concludes our musical journey . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Saturday night . . .
