Fire forces 3 people out of house Wednesday afternoon in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three people escaped a Wednesday afternoon fire that damaged their house in east Kansas City, Missouri. The fire started in the kitchen and spread through part of the one-story house at 4401 Wayne Avenue, according to a KCFD official. No one was hurt.

A hospital employee told FOX4 the water damage came from a burst water pipe. Hospital public relations staff wouldn't comment on exactly what was damaged or how it might affect patent care.

The Platte County Sheriff's Office is warning of a scam where someone is impersonating law enforcement, then asking for money. "The fraudsters are calling from 'unidentified' or 'blocked' numbers and are telling individuals that they have an outstanding traffic warrant and need to make payment immediately or face arrest," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook Wednesday.
