Kansas City Kwanzaa Celebration Starts

ACTUALLY, this is one of the better local parties where the music, drums and community focused celebration prove to a lively departure from typically saccharine holiday sentiment.

Sure, cold weather schmaltzy crooning has it's place . . . But it's also important to get your blood pumping as the temperatures drop. There's nothing that says you can't enjoy BOTH types of parties.

To wit . . . Here's more info and a reminder that ignore the hateration from people who haven't ever attended a Kwanzaa party . . . TKC has attended quite a few and they're really fun . . .

"Monday thru Saturday’s celebrations will be held at the Gem Theater, 1615 E. 18th St., Kansas City, beginning at 6 p.m. with an African Marketplace featuring vendors, artisans, crafts-person and food.   Each evening the celebration will begin at 7 p.m. and feature programming based on the Kwanzaa Principle of the day.  Each evening will also feature talented performance from groups/organizations in the community.  The celebrations are free and open to the public."
