Police investigate life-threatening shooting in Northland

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One person suffered life-threatening injuries in a shooting Wednesday afternoon. Kansas City, Missouri, police were called around 3 p.m. to a shooting in the 8100 block of N. Denver Avenue in the Northland. Once they arrived, they located a gunshot victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Saint Thomas Aquinas fired a coach following an investigation into his conduct. Saint Thomas Aquinas notified families that head girl's soccer coach Brian White is no longer with the high school. White's termination comes following an investigation by the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas.

Ex-KCK cop Roger Golubski wants out of house arrest, attacks evidence against him

A lawyer for former Kansas City, Kansas, police detective Roger Golubski, who is accused of rape and protecting sex traffickers in the 1990s, on Wednesday asked that his requirement of home detention be removed. In a motion to modify the pre-trial conditions, attorney Chris Joseph said Golubski's released co-defendants were not required to remain at home ahead of trial.

Judge refuses new trial for Kansas City, Kansas, cousins despite 'cloud of doubt' around Golubski

A Wyandotte County judge on Wednesday refused two Kansas City, Kansas, cousins a new trial for a 1997 murder conviction despite "this new cloud of doubt" surrounding a disgraced police detective. Brian Betts and Celester McKinney had hoped for a new trial based on the allegations brought to light by the exoneration of another KCK man, Lamonte McIntyre.

Kansas City woman sentenced for role in 12-year-old brother's killing in Leavenworth

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. - A 21-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, woman was sentenced to prison Wednesday for her connection with a shooting last year that left her 12-year-old brother dead. Brooke Minshae Johnson, 21, pleaded guilty back in October to one count of involuntary manslaughter.
