Kansas City 2022 Homicide Count Hits #169 After Latest East Side Deadly Shooting

The homicide count continues to trend upward at the end of this year and amid celebration to ring-in 2023.

Homicide 6900 block of E. 17th Street

 (Last night) at about 8:15 PM officers were dispatched to the 6900 block of E. 17th St. in regard to a shooting. Upon arrival they were directed into a residence were they located an adult male who was shot and unresponsive. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. One subject of interest has been detained and detectives will be talking to that person.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. KCPD investigating Friday night homicide on 17th Street

Police are investigating a homicide Friday evening in Kansas City, Missouri.KCPD says someone has been killed in the 6900 block of 17th Street. The incident occurred sometime after 8 p.m. Police have not yet released any victim or suspect information. Homicide detectives are currently working to determine a cause.

Man in custody following deadly shooting near E. 17th Street, Winchester Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting Friday night on the city's East Side. The shooting was reported just before 8:20 p.m. near E. 17th Street and Winchester Avenue. When police officers arrived at the scene they found a man inside a residence who had been shot.
