Insider: Mayor Q Absolves Patterson-Hazley Of DWI Charges?!?!

Recently, we've been complaining to anybody that will listen about local media's refusal to cover one of many stories our blog community has broken. 

C'mon man . . . They gave that other blog more mention and love after he imagined the return of Jack The Ripper in order to make the progressive podcast tour and then conclude his victory lap with a FAIL finale at the Bluford Library hosting about 5 people in attendance.  

However . . .

Because it's the holidays . . . Our prayers were answered and we got a bit of feedback. 

It's not great but tacit recognition is better than none at all. 

To wit . . . 

INSIDERS TELL US THAT MAYOR Q'S SUPPORT & ENDORSEMENT OF 3RD DISTRICT CHALLENGER PATTERSON-HAZLEY WILL OUTWEIGH ANY CONCERN OVER HER PENDING DWI CASE!!!

Our KICK-ASS TKC READERS were the first to note a pending legal proceeding involving Melissa Patterson-Hazley after a police stop in Excelsior Springs.

If her opponents capitalize on the incident this is EXTREMELY bad luck given that her next court appearance is in January and it coincides with the busiest part of campaign season. 

Brief aside . . .

Let's not forget that (some say) KCMO campaigning in the dead of Winter was devised by Boss Tom Pendergast himself as one of many ways to thwart his rivals. Worse still, nobody around this cowtown has ever bothered to change it and we continue the tradition every 4 years. 

But I digress . . . 

The point here is that the incident will likely be tossed or dramatically reduced BUT if it had happened at any other time . . . It would be a non-issue.

Now . . .

Insiders suggest that she might start her political career with a much needed boost from Mayor Q in order to counteract any negative publicity . . . Even though TKC has been EXCEEDINGLY NICE for a Westside scumbag. 

A bit more context . . . 

Her supporters were eager to promote her as a "goody two-shoes" reformer with a powerful family name. That's probably still true but now her "goody two-shoes" might be doing a lot more walking in order to meet with an Uber driver. 

Of course we're kidding . . . But the point here is that she was considered a favorite in this contest and NOW incumbent councilman Brandon Ellington has a fighting chance. 

Moreover . . .

Even local celeb Darron Story has a chance to make his case to voters who want to sidestep nearly a decade of urban conflict betwixt the Ellington family vs. the Freedom, Inc. crowd. 

All of this is how Democracy works. 

But here's what might be the punchline . . . 

Powered by hundreds of thousands of dollars and better name recognition than anyone . . .

Mayor Q's outright support of the 3rd District At-Large contender threatens to outweigh a moment of doubt regarding her chances. 

This make sense given that Mayor Q confronted his own DUI hot mess that is now all but forgotten.

Of course we'll do our best to keep readers updated whilst our MSM friends sit on this story until the talking points from 12th & Oak are clear.
