Immigrant Wave Coming Soon To Kansas City As Title 42 Falls

This week we remind locals that next year they'll have plenty of opportunities to make new friends.

To wit . . .

TKC TIPSTERS REMIND US THAT THE DOWNFALL OF PREZ TRUMP'S TITLE 42 INVITES MORE MIGRANTS TO KANSAS CITY!!!

For the past few years we've had this argument regularly concerning Afghans & refugees from Ukraine.

Each time our city's leadership has been welcoming.

However . . .

This time around conservative media warns us that the numbers are going to be overwhelming. And their predictions seem to be holding up.

For instance . . .

Consider that Denver has already declared a state of emergency over migrant arrivals.

One TKC reader asks . . .

"If KCMO struggles to handle it's homeless population now, what happens when  hundreds of illegal immigrants begin trickling into town?"

That's an important question and one that local politicos are NEVER going to answer.

To be fair . . .

A great many of migrant arrivals seem more eager to find work than denizens of homeless camps.

Also . . .

This might not be all bad news considering that so much of the construction, restaurant & lawn care industry is powered by this labor . . . Moreover, cheap labor might be the only way out of an upcoming recession along and a stubborn post-pandemic staffing shortage.

From our vantage . . .

There's a myth that the situation is "out of control" and the U.S. is being overwhelmed. Meanwhile, more skeptical voices direct their attention away from partisan slap fighting and realize the influx is tacitly approved by both the Democratic Party & Republicans as macroeconomic considerations prove far more powerful than culture war rhetoric from both progressives & right-wingers.

Hint . . . Even the devastating poverty, health concerns, crime and fear regarding acculturation actually serve to keep the American money machine rolling and power additional jobs, investment and services.

Translation:

CAPITALISM TRUMPS NATIONALISM.

Sadly, that's not really a hopeful statement for ANYBODY but did inspire me to try and bush up on my Spanish with a few new downloaded apps.

Another alt. perspective . . .

Even the most hardcore right-wing MAGA-type subcontracts with illegal immigrant labor in order to attain competitive prices. That's just the reality of the untenable situation that very few people want to admit or even discuss.
