Full Text: Open Letter Alleges KCPD Corruption, Cronyism & Cover-Ups

Allow us a conspiracy theory . . .

This note hit Kansas City weekend news watchers mostly to DISTRACT & REDIRECT attention away from the top cop forum.

Punchline . . . IT WORKED!!!

Even better . . .

We notice flowery prose and the verbosity of a missive that doesn't really mean much.

Again, this passage stands out and basically summarizes the entire polemic . . .

"The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department has a truly auspicious history, and since its inception has long maintained an unimpeachable reputation—even on a national level. But, alas, the infernal fires of corruption, cronyism, and incessant cover-ups have hollowed the soul of this once-great institution; and what is left is a cadaverous shell of its former self. The reputation of KCPD is now utterly in tatters. I do not presume to opine on the genesis of the degeneration, but I have witnessed firsthand the ongoing erosion of conviction, integrity, faith in leadership, morale, and every other indicium of a healthy organization. To be clear, I am not herein speaking of all those detention and patrol officers and detectives who put their very lives on the line every single day by patrolling the streets, guarding the jails, and solving heinous crimes. I speak rather of those who sit at the desks in Headquarters—those who, by virtue of their rank (but not necessarily their experience or merit), lord over the rest, often with inequity and ineptitude. I am speaking namely and principally about Interim Chief Joseph Mabin and General Counsel Holly Dodge."
