FOP COMMANDERS ENDORSE DEPUTY KCPD MAJ. STACEY GRAVES!!!

About an hour ahead of a public meeting for the top cop job . . .

Here's an important look at opinion from Kansas City Police leadership.

Here's the passage that stands out . . .

"As the local candidate with 25 years of service at KCPD, Major Graves is very familiar with the issues that face our city and our department, so she can take immediate action to address them. With the pressing problems of violent crime and employee recruitment and retention, as well as major upcoming events like the NFL Draft and World Cup soccer that will put Kansas City on the international stage, we don't have time for a learning curve. Major Graves comes well-positioned to get to work on these issues right away.

"Although she has an admirable history with KCPD, Major Graves will bring a fresh outlook and leadership style. She has a proven record of prioritizing community involvement, transparency and accountability at all levels. She is respected by both department and community members and values diversity and customer service. She is approachable and even-tempered in the most difficult situations. She has the communication skills and political savvy necessary to solve problems by working collaboratively with other area leaders, law enforcement, and criminal justice system partners. She is therefore the right person to lead KCPD through the U.S. Department of Justice's upcoming investigation and implement the changes DOJ determines are needed . . . "

Community to meet top three police chief candidates at public meeting on Saturday

Despite requests for months to the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners from many organizations and civic leaders to allow residents throughout KCMO to have opportunities to hear from candidates to be the city's new police chief and ask them questions before a new chief is hired, apparently there will only be one such community meeting from 10 a.m.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - On Saturday the public will have a chance to see who they think is the best person to be the next Kansas City police chief. All three finalists will meet the community in person at 10 a.m. at the Mohart Multipurpose Center.
