Christmas Can't Save Kansas City Retail

We stumbled upon a listicle that's worth a quick peek and a short answer. 

The author cites a great many factors influencing the demise of local shopping options and seems to wonder about the cause. 

The quick answer to the dilemma: The Internets.

Here's the premise . . .

"It isn't just the city's famed shopping district that continues to lose retailers -- often national chains. A number of department stores have been closing across the Kansas City area. Many of these now-shuttered stores were once major tenants for shopping centers and malls around the metro."

Sadly there's not solution for the death of retail other than to reconsider public spaces built upon cheap merch marked up and accompanied by a vast array of fried food.
