Right-Wing Activists Swagger Jack City Hall Resources For Campaign Kick-Off

Here at TKC we love bad political theater just as much as anybody . . .

However . . .

Recently, council questions security in their building after a cadre of right-wing activists recently used a city hall stage for their low-rent campaign kick-off.

Odds are they didn't have permission to the podium or the room for their campaign activities. In fact, there are VERY strict rules about candidates using city hall resources or KCMO branding for their election ambitions. What's worse is that they documented a potential ethics violation and then posted it on social media.

Mixed feelings on this one . . .

We'll do our best to remain objective but council has taken notice and the feeling on this little display is that "it's not a good look."

The clip is cheap cell phone video and close listeners can hear the cameraman giggling and giving directions during the recording.

More to the point . . .

The faux kick-off has the activists play-acting a press conference that never happened.

It's kinda cringe.

We're sharing if only to encourage these candidates and everyone else TO TAKE THEMSELVES AND COUNCIL ELECTIONS SERIOUSLY.

Council is a crappy job that requires round-the-clock work and constant abuse from strangers. For most it's not a springboard to bigger & better things but a dead-end that will incur lifelong enemies amongst neighbors for those willing to sacrifice countless hours away from their friends & family to work on behalf of a public that mostly thinks poorly of elected leaders.

Accordingly . . .

Here's a quick word from insiders and more on the clip . . .

"Looks like there are 3 candidates who have picked up petitions and filed committees that made their big announcements using city resources.  Not sure that's legal. Their little presentaiton certainly looks official.

"These are recall candidates.  They led the charge on the recalls of several Councilmembers.  They are pretty far right."

A bit more info on the candidates . . .

Mickey Younghanz - 2nd District At-Large candidate who formerly attempted a Missouri State Rep. run.

Jill Sasse is on record as a Jackson County Republican and will attempt to challenge incumbent Andrea Bough

Rhonda Smith 1st District At-Large candidate who will be competing against incumbent Kevin O'Neill
