Newsflash: Kansas City Trans Debate Is A Red Herring

First let's define terms . . .

A red herring is something that misleads or distracts from a relevant or important question. It may be either a logical fallacy or a literary device that leads readers or audiences toward a false conclusion. A red herring may be used intentionally, as in mystery fiction or as part of rhetorical strategies (e.g., in politics), or may be used in argumentation inadvertently.

Just a quickie . . .

Over the past week I've been sent this old news at least a dozen times . . .

Gender-Affirmation Project at Kansas City's Center for Inclusion: The project is intended to help trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming and gender-diverse people in need by providing a $1,000 grant to help pay for gender-affirming surgery.

Consider . . .

As long as whatever happens is between two consenting adults . . . Most Americans don't care where grownups stick it or what they do with their junk.

As for how this issue might impact youngsters . . . The only thing we know for sure is that families looking for compassion, understanding and guidance aren't going to find ANY OF THAT ON THE INTERNETS OR FROM POLITICOS. And again, most people don't want to get involved in anyone else's family drama.

And so . . .

We remain skeptical of ANYONE making trans issues or drag shows the cornerstone of their campaign. Except, of course, Rupaul . . .

A pop culture diva who can do whatever she wants.
