Local Faith Blogger Ponders Future Of American Atheist Politics

Not-so-fun fact . . . The nation has likely elected MANY atheists who simply never bothered to mention it.

However . . . This post is clever and fun because it take a poke at a popular trend and widespread misunderstanding of American history . . .

Another reason for voters' lack of enthusiasm for electing non-believers is that many people still think of the U.S. as a religious nation -- and, comparatively, it is. In fact, as I've written more than once, today's virulent Christian nationalism invents a false history about the nation's founding and then seeks to extend that alleged story into the present and future.

Let's also remember that there is not to be any religious test for holding public office.
