KC Tenants Steal Credit For Mayor & Council Housing GO Bond Money

Behind the scenes here's a fun little slap fight that keeps failed journalists busy . . .

KC Tenants claims they're responsible for a 50 MILLION GO BOND "VICTORY" and/or tax increase.

Reality . . .

They didn't buy an ad . . . They didn't send mail . . . And they didn't REALLY walk any neighborhood in order to hand out push pieces.

What they did was conveniently time a protest for local TV news crews and the paper. That's fun . . . But it's not exactly a Democratic powerhouse.

Again . . . We're happy to look at their campaign finance reports to gauge their "power" by way of donations & support.

Guess what . . . Nothing comes up so far . . .

Actually, getting cash shouldn't be too hard for this group . . .

But that's just where "the fun" starts.

Meanwhile . . .

Let's just remember that local media are always happy to extol the virtues of performance art . . .

Last month, KC Tenants launched KC Tenant Power, a political arm, that will not be bound for IRS rules prohibiting such nonprofit groups from taking sides in campaigns. The goal for this new entity is to develop a voting bloc of renters galvanized by common interests and speaking with a common voice at the polls on issues such as education, public safety, transportation and economic justice.

After big affordable housing election win, KC Tenants raises a louder voice

And much of the credit for that success goes to KC Tenants. Since its formation three years ago, the advocacy group has pushed city leaders to make affordable housing a priority, and find funding to create more of it.
