Kansas City Star Continues Vendetta Against JoCo Sheriff Hayden: Will It Work?!?

A few things to clarify a more nuanced stance for news readers . . .

Do we like taxpayer funded junkets: Nope. 

Is it fair to criticize and offer skepticism about law enforcement expenditures: Absolutely. 

However . . . 

The Kansas City Star has expressed such a grudge against this JoCo lawman that it's nearly impossible to trust their reporting.

Again . . .

Local governments spend a great deal of cash on useless junkets and it's good to know that the Golden Ghetto is also throwing their money away . . .

In KC proper we've paid for flights around the world by even the most lowly civic activists.

Still . . .

We challenge readers to check this copy and realize that it's not really reporting . . . It's an editorial in disguise and yet another sign that Kansas City's biggest daily paper continues to lack leadership, objectivity and . . . Worst of all . . . Seems to be losing trust along with most of their audience . . .

Johnson County taxpayers helped pay Sheriff Calvin Hayden’s expenses during a trip to Las Vegas this summer where he promoted his investigation into baseless allegations surrounding the 2020 election to a gathering of hard-right law enforcement officials.

Johnson County paid nearly $300 in per diem to Hayden for attending a conference of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association – a fringe group of sheriffs who contend they can refuse to enforce laws they view as unconstitutional – even though the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office had previously only said the association paid for the trip.
