Kansas City Insiders Fight Over Next Chair Of Jackson County Legislature

Jackson County Executive Frank White is a lame duck, he isn't running again and he'll likely have even less power at the Courthouse in his last term in office.

Here's what insiders know . . .

THE JACKSON COUNTY LEGISLATURE WILL NOW CONTROL THE FATE OF TAXPAYERS!!!

Now, we have our favorites and the recent election showed us that ANYTHING can happen.

However . . .

Here's a quick preview . . .

DaRon McGee is a strong leader with a surprising level of bipartisan support from Southeast Kansas City. Anyone who knows him understands that he's extremely smart, personable and approachable. Even the most skeptical South side residents respect his work ethic. His comeback from controversy in the Missouri House is a testament to how much voters like him.

Meanwhile . . .

Megan Marshall kinda has a bit of the "Rep. Sharice Davids effect" going for her but with a bit more edge. Contrary to Internets trolls . . . She did make quite a few friends in Lee's Summit and there are a lot of parents who have come to trust this former Marine. Sure, she has critics . . . As we all do. But overall she wouldn't have achieved a surprising victory over Tony Miller without a lot of people putting their hope in her candidacy. Behind the scenes . . . Some insiders from Freedom, Inc. would like to champion female leaders and Legislator Elect Marshall MIGHT be a way to do that.

Legislator Jalen Anderson - Most think that in his 2nd term Jalen Anderson will be the odd man out without the "guidance" of Crystal Williams. However, Mr. Anderson might serve as a compromise vote betwixt the Exec's office and the rest of the legislature. Mr. Anderson's pursuit of the office might hinder his progress . . . But then again . . . Maybe a desire for the work is what's needed.

Again . . .

We think this contest has already been decided . . . BUT, for taxpayers and voters the decision is HUGE given that the past couple of years have shown us how much power the Legislature can wield over public health, transit and bank accounts.

Developing . . .
