KCPD video shows police closing in on sideshow participants, police say 100 shell casings recovered

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said more than 100 shell casings were recovered from the scene of a sideshow that was busted up by officers over the weekend. Video shared to the department's social media pages shows cars blocking an intersection with dozens of people on the street surrounding a car doing donuts in the middle of the road.


Police investigate double shooting in South Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police are investigating a double shooting in South Kansas City. Officers responded to a call near Red Bridge Road and US 71 Highway around 10 a.m. and found two people suffering from gunshot injuries. There is a recycling center, a community center, a parking lot and two gas stations in the area.


Two critically-injured after argument inside convenience store off Red Bridge Road

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police said two people suffered critical injuries after a shooting Thursday morning. Police said two people in line at the Store n Shop store in the area of Red Bridge Road and 110th Street were involved in an argument. A shooting ensued, and both suffered critical injuries.


Police: Woman found dead in Independence apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Independence police are hoping the public can help generate leads after a woman was found dead inside of an apartment Wednesday night. A police spokesperson said officers were called around 9:45 p.m. to the 16900 block of E. Larkspur Lane.


Independence deputy chief's lawsuit says he was passed over for top job because of age

Independence Police Department Deputy Chief Ken Jarnagin is suing the city for alleged employment discrimination, saying he was unfairly placed on administrative leave during an investigation of the department's overtime practices and then passed over as he sought to become the city's chief of police.

Statutory rape trial for former coach, teacher pushed until next year

Former high school football coach and teacher Josh Hood will not face trial for a felony count of second-degree statutory rape until at least next year.On Thursday, Hood had no comment as he walked into the Clay County Courthouse for a pretrial conference.Hood was most recently the head football coach at Park Hill High School until 2020.
