Kansas City Council Dude Eric Bunch Checked Out: Will He Run For Reelection?!?

One of Kansas City's most strident advocates for bike lanes and transit has been strangely silent during the later half of this year.

To wit . . .

COUNCIL DUDE ERIC BUNCH IS OUT OF TOUCH AS ELECTION SEASON APPROACHES!!!

Context . . .

This is a far cry from 4 years ago when his enthusiasm for local government was obvious.

However . . .

A tough reelection challenge, an even tougher fundraising environment and an increasingly dissatisfied electorate that doesn't seem excited about bike lanes seems to have taken the wind out of his sails.

Also . . .

With law enforcement supporters organizing a slate of candidates . . . Council Dude Bunch has quieted his anti-police sentiment  . . . HOWEVER, he hasn't had much to say about local control or po-po criticism in general.

At the very least . . . It's fair to say that he's now much quieter than he was when he was demanding that the Chief of Police step down.

Another thing . . .

In a transit story earlier this morning Council Dude Bunch didn't respond to newsie questions . . . And the article was just a softball promo piece. AND amid recent bike lane criticism, journalists also reached out to him and he didn't take their questions.

Now . . .

We heard rumors that he might not seek reelection but right now that's pure speculation.

What's more likely . . .

Whilst Council dude Bunch still has an advantage as an incumbent . . . He's no longer a favorite of the Mayor and, clearly, he no longer has the zeal for the job that seemed apparent at the outset of his first term.

Developing . . .
