Most of our readers don't get it and they can't tell the difference betwixt gangland rappers and hip-hop musical artists . . . But an important distinction does, in fact, exist.

Sadly . . .

We believe that gaining a better understanding the local rap music scene is a far better strategy for responsible club owners and party promoters than merely castigating all hip-hop and thereby promoting discriminatory attitudes that seem racially charged . . .

Remember that in the very early 90s KPRS, KC's first Black-owned radio station, refused to play more than a handful of rap songs but were forced to adjust their approach given the global financial success of the genre.
