Jackson County Prosecutor's Office: Two KC men charged in double homicide on Tuesday near 28th and Prospect Avenue

Two Kansas City brothers face First Degree Murder and other charges related to Tuesday's double homicide near 28th and Prospect Avenue, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced today.

Marques Derrick Smith, dob: 7/3/2002, and Marquan D. Smith, dob: 9/30/2004, each face two Murder 1st Degree charges, three Armed Criminal Action charges and an Unlawful Use of a Weapon.*

According to court records, Kansas City police responded on Tuesday early afternoon to the area of 28th and Prospect Avenue on a reported shooting. Two victims of gunshots were found in the area and were victims of gunshot. Officers responding to the scene of the shootings saw a man in the area of 29th and Indiana who later. He was found with his brother who had a rifle. Several callers from residences in the area of the shooting reported see two men running and jumping fences. Much of the shooting was also captured on videos from city and other cameras.

Prosecutors requested defendants be held on no bond.
