Show-Me Kansas City Election Season Newsflash: Nobody Cares About Local Politics!?!

A bit of wisdom from Jeff City might explain why the Missouri Democrats are going to get smacked around in public come November.

Point of fact . . .

Missouri Democrats have put together one of the most ridiculous, ineffectual and absolutely incompetent ballots in more than 20 years. They're likely confronting a total statewide sweep. So, of course, they'd like to direct attention away from their upcoming public beating.

And this begs the question . . .

How long until progressives, moderates or ANYBODY WITH AMBITION IN MISSOURI decides that it's time to develop an alternative to some of the least creative people in the Midwest and find candidates willing to speak about local issues rather than take their talking points from podcasts and TV chat shows???

It'll likely never happen.

But in the meantime . . .

Here's wisdom and a worthy bit of insight from Jeff City . . .

"As both voters and candidates increasingly take political cues from national party leaders and messages, the question for many office-seekers becomes: how do we weave popular national sentiments with local issues that will impact House districts representing around 37,000 Missourians each and Senate districts representing 174,000?

The answer . . .

DON'T BOTHER!!!

Just smile pretty for selfies and realize that local politics has always been nothing more than a popularity contest.

As Missouri's state lawmakers campaign for election this fall, 'all politics is national'

JEFFERSON CITY - "All politics is local," goes the old adage popularized by former U.S. Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill. But in this day and age, that slogan has largely gone by the wayside. Many state lawmakers in Missouri have been campaigning for months, knocking doors, attending donor events and pitching their platforms to voters.
