We don't know if this longstanding rivalry will resonate with the NEXTGEN.
Moreover . . .
It's a bit of a cliche to direct ire toward Vegas.
When this rivalry started the opposition was located in Oakland and the parallels were more clear cut. The town was roughly the same size of KC but thought of themselves as more cosmopolitan than our beloved cowtown.
The Raiders embraced the "bad guy" image and America needed a harmless anti-hero amid the cultural shift of the 60s.
Whereas the roots of the Kansas City Chiefs were far more middle-of-the-road and didn't quite understand the future . . . As decades of mediocrity would attest.
Anyhoo . . .
The rivalry is worth at least remembering.
Here's a quick look back . . .
"Back in the 1960s and 1970s when the Raiders found their home in Oakland and in the 1980s and early 1990s in Los Angeles, there was a great rivalry between the two teams. Just talk to any player or coach from the 60s through the 90s and they’ll let you know how intense the rivalry was during their era of Chiefs football. Many people point back to the brawl of 1970 when the feud took off to new heights."

Chiefs and Raiders Set to Renew Rivalry in Prime Time
The Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders rivalry returns to Monday Night Football. Head coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes have led the Chiefs to a dominant stretch in the series, while Raiders QB Derek Carr has been mostly disappointing in these games.
For our Gen-X pals . . . The great Chiefs Vs. Raiders brawl of 1986 remains part of local folklore . . .
Sadly, we don't expect these kind of fireworks on Monday night given that ballers are barely bothered to play given their excessive salaries . . .
