Playlist: Kansas City Earns U.S. Murder Capital Crown & Nobody Cares

A week of news and a tragic stat didn't garner much coverage or concern.

In fact . . .

Locals seemed far too busy to pay attention given more pressing concern directed toward partisan electioneering, Twitter, mulch fires and rumors about sex dungeons.

Meanwhile, this passage from a note by one of our favorite readers deserves consideration . . .

"KC had the highest increase in homicides during COVID of any American city. We have the second highest per capita murders for Q3 of 2022 of any US city second only to St Louis. The highest Q3 22 over Q3 21 increase as well . . .

"And no one in City Hall or the local MSM seems all that exercised about it."

Another look at the tragic trend for those who might not have seen it whilst zoning out on what passes for local news coverage . . .

This ranking is important enough to take a pause and consider.

Also . . .

We don't mean to be irreverent but Saturday night is when we typically share songs with readers and tonight is no exception.

This evening we focus on tunes that align with worsening violence . . .

A more recent song because it is, in fact, brutal out here . . .

Yet another EPIC column from Byron Crawford inspires us to include a tune from "Ye" who will soon deservedly disappear from public memory . . .

One of our campy heavy metal favorites . . .

Sadly, this hipster tune from the 2010s has aged well and remains relevant given worsening youngster violence . . .

One of the greatest rock opera songs ever written deals with the aftermath of violent death . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a SAFE & FUN Saturday night
