An arbitrator says a KCFD firefighter, was negligent and "directly caused" the Westport crash that killed three people, injured another, and damaged a building on Dec. 15, 2021.

The crash involved a KCFD pumper truck and an SUV at the Westport intersection of Westport Road and Broadway Boulevard.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Groups involved in a civil lawsuit over a deadly Westport crash involving a Kansas City firetruck have reached a tentative arbitration agreement for over $32 million. The December 2021 crash near Broadway Avenue and Westport Road killed 41-year-old Jennifer San Nicolas, and 25-year-old Michael J. Elwood.
