Conference Chair Stan Archie says, “There are critical moments that shape our lives and drive our future. Sadly, for us in urban communities, these moments happen without us at the table even when we are the ones most impacted. On November 5th there will be one of those moments. The Urban Summit will have its annual meeting where the topics will include issues of Crime, Health, Politics, Economics, Education, Reentry, etc. as it relates to Kansas City’s urban core “

The Urban Summit was convened in 2008 by Bishop James Tindall Sr. It brought together elected officials and urban residents to discuss economic development, crime and substance abuse, education, health care, neighborhood/housing and integration.

Conference speaker will be Majora Carter-Author of “Reclaiming Your Community: You Don’t Have to Move Out of Your Neighborhood to Live in a Better One”.

Majora Carter is a real estate developer, urban revitalization strategy consultant, MacArthur Fellow and Peabody Award winning broadcaster. She's responsible for the creation of numerous economic developments, technology inclusion & green-infrastructure projects, policies and job training & placement systems.  She is also a lecturer at Princeton University's Keller Center.
