Kansas City Union Honcho Fights Failing 12th & Oak Residency Rules

With special thinks to AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS we want to share the only bit of real municipal news out there today . . .

This week . . .

REPORT: TOP RANKING CITY HALL UNION LEADER CONFRONTS RESIDENCY RULES WITH LEGAL HELP!!! HIS CASE THREATENS TO BRING DOWN LAST REMNANTS OF OLD SCHOOL KCMO EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS!!!

Here are the basics . . .

The big picture is that the Missouri GOP "liberated" the KCPD from stringent residency rules in order to boost recruitment . . . Which hasn't worked yet.

Still . . .

The impact of that power move has made residency requirements in KCMO questionable.

Behind the scenes . . . Most KCFD members want out of the city and that's why so many of them live at the very edge of Northland and closer to Parkville than the bulk of KCMO population centers.

And so . . .

A KCMO union leader is "lawyer-ing up" and his impending legal fight might have implications for ALL city employees.

Whilst the dude (reportedly) might not be universally beloved amongst his colleagues . . . That doesn't diminish the importance of this question about city hall policy.

Moreover . . .

What's worse is that KCMO can't even keep employees within city limits and that doesn't speak well of so many tourist and urban renewal efforts to attract higher income residents.

Developing . . .
