Kansas City Star Endorses Republican Legislator Over Exec Frank White

In an editorial hidden deep, deep behind the paywall . . . The Kansas City Star spits in the face of local Democratic Party leaders AND one of the biggest political action committees in the metro.

It's a surprising move but maybe not that brave . . .

Over the past year our blog has noted a growing list of probs with Exec Frank White's administration and now those issues seem to be reaching a climax.

Quick review . . .

- His administration mishandled a property tax crisis.

- Under Frank White the Jackson County jail has turned into a human right violation and the fix has come all too slowly . . . Even better, insiders believe the new facility will be overcrowded BEFORE it has been built.

- Exec Frank dodged debates in the primary and he has little if any contact with local media.

- The threat of a property tax increase has emerged again and it will come at a time that could be critical for many home owners and amid a faltering U.S. economy.

- This is the Exec's last term in office and he's campaigning solely on name recognition and, by all accounts, seems disengaged and unwilling to participate in local Democracy beyond any level greater than press releases written by his staff.

And so  . . .

I don't know if it's worth it to buy the paper in order to read about them jumping on the bandwagon.

BUT . . .

At least we'll share the headline . . .

Developing . . .
