Kansas City Homicide #141: Woman Shot Dead Near Downtown I-35 Highway Near I-70

Aftermath report following first news of a shooting.

Kansas City is now in the midst of the biggest homicide uptick we've seen in the history of this cowtown.

Here are the deets . . .

Homicide I-35 Hwy northbound near I-70

Just after 12:30pm, officers were called to I-35 Hwy and I-70 Hwy in regard to a reported shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, an adult female, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.  The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.  Tragically, the victim succumbed to her injuries at the hospital and was pronounced deceased.

There is no suspect information at this time.  The circumstances which led up to the shooting are under investigation.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Personnel have responded to the scene.  They will be processing the for evidence.  The 2G exit to I-35 Hwy northbound will be closed at I-70 Hwy for a few hours.

Life-threatening shooting near northbound I-35 and Independence Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Police responded to a life-threatening shooting call shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon. Dispatchers received a call about the shooting at 12:38 p.m. Scout footage from I-70 near Charlotte Street showed Kansas City Missouri Police Department officers blocking traffic in the area leading to the on-ramp from I-70 to northbound I-35 near Independence Avenue.

Kansas City police said they are investigating a homicide Friday afternoon near the northeast side of the downtown loop.Police officers were called at 12:38 p.m. on a reported shooting near Interstate 70 and the Interstate 35/Interstate 29 split.Police said when officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds inside a vehicle.
