Jackson County Republicans Decry Alleged Kansas City Star Censorship

There's a conversation that we need to have on this blog about comments.

However . . . In the meantime, this note from the local GOP serves as a reminder about limits on the local discourse even amid the era of instant global communication.

Here's the letter forwarded to TKC . . . Check-it . . .

KC Star Alters Letter to the Editor

Jefferson City, Mo. — On Friday, the Kansas City Star substantially altered a letter to the editor submitted by the Secretary of the Jackson County Republican Party.

Carolyn Caton, Secretary for the Jackson County Republican Party, submitted a letter to the editor at the Kansas City Star (KC Star) this week voicing her support for Republican U.S. Senate candidate, Eric Schmitt. In a private response to her submission, The KC Star Community Engagement Editor, Derek Donovan, told Caton she was “mischaracterizing” Trudy Busch Valentine’s position on border security. When Caton’s letter was published on Friday, all but one sentence regarding Busch Valentine had been removed.

"Conservatives across the country are being censored by big tech and the liberal news media on every platform," Said Charlie Dalton, Executive Director of the Missouri Republican Party. "Now we are seeing it done on the state level, by our own local, "nonpartisan" news outlets. It's disgusting the KC Star would take it upon themselves to restrict speech that they deem is too conservative. We can't allow them to continue to silence our voices."
