Climate Change Grass Fires Burn Kansas City

Of course, THE SCIENCE can't REALLY determine if it's climate change that started these local infernos. But that never stopped anyone else from making the connection.

Grass fires have been part of Midwest life for centuries BUT many environmental activists claim that these infernos on the prairie have worsened thanks to man-made climate change that mostly emanates from middle-class white people utilizing the drive-thru at Chick-fil-A.

Here's a glimpse at the stich and recent blazes . . .

"With the risk of Grass fires and wildfires across the metro, the governor of Kansas declared a State of Disaster Emergency, but it's an issue that's arisen on both sides of the state line . . .The metro area is already getting its fair share of scares so far after two firefighters were injured badly in a grass fire Friday. One of those first responders remains in the hospital."

Grass fire develops near I-470 and Raytown Road

LEE'S SUMMIT, Mo. (KCTV) - A large grass fire has developed in the area of I-470 and Raytown Road. The blaze can be seen easily from the highway. Kansas City Scout warns drivers in the area to be prepared to stop if using I-470. The fire was reported to KC Scout at 10:51 a.m.

Multiple grass fires pop up around KC metro as dry, windy conditions continue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Since Friday afternoon, at least half a dozen grass fires have popped up in and around Kansas City. The Fort Osage Fire Protection District battled an illegal burn Friday that turned into a multiple-acre grass fire on the border of Buckner and Sibley in Missouri.


Highview Estates residents asked to evacuate due to spread of fire

Just after 11am emergency crew were called to the area of I-470 Highway and Raytown Road to assist KCFD with traffic in regard to a fire in the area. The fire is believed to have started as a mulch fire but is quickly spreading due to the winds and dry condition.


Interstate 470 at Raytown Road closed due to grass fire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Interstate 470 Eastbound near Raytown Road is closed due to a grass fire. The Kansas City Missouri Police department said the fire began as a mulch fire and spread with high winds in the area around 11 a.m.
