McCLATCHY MULLS PLAN TO CUT KANSAS CITY STAR TO WEEKLY!!!

About 12 years ago this blog accurately predicted/reported the Kansas City Star was cutting down on publication days. 

To be fair, that prediction/insider word took about a decade to prove correct. But, eventually it happened. 

Now . . . We have another bit of insider gossip that's good enough to share . . .

THE KANSAS CITY STAR RECENTLY REVIEWED PLANS TO CUT BACK NEWSPAPER PUBLICATION TO A WEEKLY BASIS!!!

Eliminating the Saturday issue was just the beginning of cost cutting measures and despite so much bravado about new hires . . . The economics of newsprint no longer make sense.

Accordingly . . . 

Newspaper leaders have long told us that the focus is now on maintaining their digital editions i.e. blogging. 

Meanwhile . . . Recent subscription & circulation reports reveal that fewer and fewer people are reading the print edition, demand for dead-tree tactical news is nearly nonexistent and a Sunday edition would likely suffice for old school lovers of newsprint.
