Kansas Progressive Insult: Migrant Comparison To Civil Rights Movement

A local prog blog thesis might be one of the most condescending and nearly hostile interpretations of history we've ever seen.

Here's the premise that threatens to alienate both Latino & African-American voters . . .

"In many ways, Republicans like Abbott and DeSantis are the political descendants of Southern segregationists whose cruelty horrified other Americans in the 1960s.

"Immigration scholars have noted how U.S. foreign policies contributed to the poverty and violence in Central and South America that migrants are fleeing. Yet rather than acknowledge this – along with assuming the moral responsibilities it entails – some GOP leaders denigrate and dehumanize refugees to win support from voters drawn to xenophobic messaging."

Here's the deal . . .

ONLY OUT-OF-TOUCH PROGRESSIVE HALF-WITS WOULD MAKE SUCH AN INSULTING ANALOGY!!!

Fact is . . .

The Civil Rights struggle was a sacred fight to secure legal rights for people who were historically persecuted under U.S. law. The fight for freedom was "deeply rooted in the American dream" and might have been one of the greatest achievements of the 20th Century.

Meanwhile . . .

Migrant populations fleeing their failed homelands have some ideological similarity or aspirations but the immigrant waves actually have more in common with the influx of the Irish, Italians and other ethnic Europeans in the days before, during and after World War I.

We don't want to discount anyone's struggle but the reality is that immigration is a much more COMPLICATED ISSUE wherein our progressive friends might be surprised to realize that many Latinos aren't too jazzed about the influx of migrants to the U.S. even if they share similar demographic backgrounds.

Translation . . . Note the rise of Latino Republicans who disagree with open door border access because they're FIRST to deal with worsening poverty, crime and the influx of drugs into communities which often results from ill-conceived policy.

Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott pull from segregationist playbook with anti-immigration stunts - Kansas Reflector

In the slavery and Jim Crow eras, racist policies backed by extreme violence limited access to education and economic opportunities for Black people to ensure that they had few options other than working for white employers.

Memo to the media: Elite 'Latinxs' don't speak for Hispanics | Opinion

When it comes to covering "Hispanic issues," the mainstream media has a routine that goes something like this: An event happens, often immigration related. Journalists then turn to the Hispanics they know: fellow liberals in the media or political elites. They then present those far-Left takes to the America people as the sentiment of "the Latino community."
