Kansas City Republican Election Judge Dismissed Over 'Aversion' To COVID Masks

First a bit of good news . . .

COVID-19 cases continued to fall in the Kansas City area this week as the CDC downgraded Jackson, Clay and Platte Counties to “low” community levels of the virus. This ranking indicates that these communities are well prepared to treat COVID-19 patients who need medical care.

However . . .

COVID masking is still required in many Kansas City public spaces . . . And that fact of life sparked this political dispute . . .

She did, indeed, express an aversion to COVID-19 masks at her poll worker training earlier this year, though she agreed to wear a shield. That reluctance apparently led the KCEB to say it wouldn’t use her in the upcoming Nov. 8 election, after she was an at-home alternate for the Aug. 2 primary.

Kansas City hoping to accommodate mask-averse Republican even as mask mandate still in effect for poll workers

Democrat-laden Kansas City, Missouri has enough trouble attracting Republicans to be poll workers alongside Democrats. It needs to grab them whenever it can.
