Kansas City Life Lesson: No Free Lunch

The start of the school year offers a cruel teachable moment for students in many Kansas City public school districts. 

Politicos are playing games with lunch money and freebies have run out just in time for campaign season. 

Meanwhile, TKC fondly remembers that school lunch offered a great deal of insight into the real world. Youngsters forced to shame themselves for reduced school offerings, healthy & boring fare endured by some parents in plastic containers, Mexican kids and their brown bags stocked with tortilla goodness and so many, many apples thrown away. 

But I digress . . . 

Here's a look at the sitch and a reminder that the only real education that schools provide is to prep youngsters for a lifetime of indoctrination, soft coercion and contradictory rules that are NEVER applied equally . . .

"The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education implemented the free lunch waivers across the state and say their absence will be noticed by Missouri families who don't qualify for free or reduced lunch."

Educators concerned as families foot school lunch bill for 1st time in 2 years

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - This school year, families across the Kansas City metro are having to pay for their student's lunch after the federal government's free meal waiver ended this summer. However, inflation continues to trickle down, impacting families and school districts who are also facing rising costs.
