Kansas City Crime Scene: 10% Spike In Homicide Pace Over Last Year

Labor Day marks the unofficial end of Summer and right now it's appropriate to take a quick glimpse at where our local homicide crisis stands.

Thankfully, there haven't been any KCMO killings reported today and that gives us a chance to check the latest reports on homicides. Take a look . . .

Accordingly . . .

RIGHT NOW KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI CONFRONTS AN UPTICK IN HOMICIDES OF NEARLY 10% WITH VERY LITTLE REACTION FROM MAYOR Q AND CITY HALL!!!!

The percentage increase is 9.80392% to be exact. And, again, this spike comes after last year's homicide count was the 2nd highest in KCMO history.  And what's even more disheartening is that NOBODY is raising an alarm about this situation.

The "gun control" issue is a politicized circular argument that Democratic Party leaders have waged against theMissouri Republican super-majority for more than half a decade to no avail.

Sadly . . .

The newspaper helped local politicos tout KC NOVA and play statistical games with the murder count but the argument has has been mostly forgotten because it ignored the current uptick that continues despite a recent change in police leadership.

And that brings us to the question of local control.

DOES ANYBODY REALLY BELIEVE THAT CITY HALL CONTROL WILL HELP REDUCE THE MURDER COUNT??? THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN IN STL & WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANY ANY MAJOR AMERICAN CITY CURB THEIR CRIME RATE BY WAY OF POLITICAL POSTURING!!!

And yet we haven't really seen this issue debated anywhere but differing social media bubbles that only serve as sounding boards for like-minded people . . . Admittedly, TKC probably qualifies as part of that description but we ALWAYS welcome voices of dissent.

And so . . . Here's the rub . . .

Things tend to get more violent as the year moves along. There was little progress in curbing violence over the Summer and we haven't heard of any new strategy or tactics going into Q3.

And so we stay up late into yet another night thinking that one of our elected officials might get serious about dealing with this crisis . . . There have been a few bright spots, some leadership but so far nothing sustainable has been accomplished.

It's worth it to keep trying.

It's worth it to realize that this is a problem that's not going to solve itself.
