KANSAS CITY, Mo. - As Hurricane Ian makes landfall, the call for help goes out across Kansas City and the country. One of the easiest ways to help right now is to donate blood and blood products, according to the Community Blood Center. It says blood centers across Florida are already asking for help.


Crews to open roads, as part of Buck O'Neil bridge replacement project - Downtown Council of Kansas City

Crews with the Buck O'Neil Bridge replacement project will be re-opening the following routes beginning on Thursday (Sept. 29). These roads were previously closed as part of the construction for the Buck O'Neil bridge. There will be no lane closures for this work and crews anticipate that the roadways will be re-opened by 3 p.m.


Police pull unresponsive child from Independence pond, child revived with CPR and rushed to hospital

A young child was pulled from a pond in Independence thanks to a quick-thinking witness and Independence police.According to information released by the city of Independence, fire crews and police were called to the property that used to house the Rockwood Golf Course on South Hardy Avenue near Westport Road around 9:25 a.m.A witness saw a child go into a pond on the property of what is now the Independence Power and Light Community Solar Farm and called for help.The pond is situated on property near two Independence School District buildings, Korte Elementary and Clifford H.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Lee's Summit man was killed after his semi left the roadway after a tire blowout. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports Quinton M. Wilkes, 25, was westbound on Interstate 470 at the seven-mile marker at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday when his 2009 Peterbilt had a tire blowout.
