MAYOR Q'S EPIC CAMPAIGN WAR CHEST HAS PROBABLY SCARED AWAY ANY SERIOUS CONTENDERS!!!

September's report hasn't been filed yet but here's the latest number on record at the end of the last reporting period . . .

Mayor Q's campaign has $558,284.85 cash on hand.

The princely sum includes donations from most of this town's ruling elite and ALL of the big local businesses in the metro.

Fact is . . . People are lining up to give Mayor Q money rather than waste it on totally interchangeable and unremarkable council incumbents.

A few more fun facts to consider . . .

- Word is Mayor Q will report ANOTHER SIX FIGURES RAISED this reporting period.

- The Mayor has solidified his relationship with D.C. and probably won't be spending much time here after he's reelected.

- There's an independent who has declared his campaign intentions but he doesn't have any money. Denizens of the discourse will have to hope that Clay Chastain hops on many flights from Virginia in order to keep us entertained for his mayoral efforts.

More to the point . . .

From what we can tell . . .

Kansas City doesn't really have a functioning Democracy and the dearth of serious Mayoral candidates is a symptom of this problem amid a homicide crisis and given that there isn't anyone who can reasonably argue that Mayor Q is overwhelmingly popular amongst voters.
