Under the ordinance, police officers can issue fines to renters or property owners of up to $500. The new ordinance comes after a city study on the impact of short-term rentals in Overland Park.

"I think this was a very good job by our staff to bring this ordinance to, you know, regulate and put back peace and comfort in the neighborhoods," said Councilman Faris Farassati.

There is a new crackdown on nuisance parties in Overland Park.The city council unanimously passed a new ordinance Monday targeting "party homes."Under the ordinance, police officers can issue fines to renters or property owners of up to $500.
