Springfield, Missouri Protest Showdown Over LGBT Pride Flag In School

They want Springfield Public Schools to revisit a board policy that prompted a principal to tell "a handful" of teachers at Kickapoo to remove Pride flags from their classrooms last week.

A few days later, the district sent an email to all employees with reminders about how to comply with the policy, first adopted in 2014, that spells out expectations for employee speech and conduct.

"This is absolutely ridiculous. I can't even put into words how mad I am," said Bayley Talburt, a 2018 graduate of Glendale High School, while protesting Monday at the corner of Primrose Street and Jefferson Avenue.
