Pedestrian Dies After Running Onto 71 Highway & Getting Hit By Two Cars

One of the most dangerous roads in Kansas City claimed another life earlier today.

"Investigation revealed that the pedestrian was on the west side of the southbound lanes of 71 Highway. The pedestrian suddenly ran out into the southbound lanes of 71 Highway, directly in front of a southbound white Nissan Altima. The Altima was unable to take evasive action and struck the pedestrian. The pedestrian was struck a second time by a black Nissan Rogue that was directly behind the Altima. Both drivers immediately stopped and remained at the scene. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding EMS personnel. This is fatality #59 compared to #48 at this time last year and the investigation is ongoing."

Pedestrian killed on southbound 71-Highway Sunday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Police Department says a pedestrian was killed Sunday morning on southbound 71-Highway and Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard. Police said the incident occurred around 5:50 a.m. when the pedestrian ran out into the southbound lanes of 71 Highway, directly in front of a white Nissan Altima.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A pedestrian died in a collision Sunday morning on U.S. Highway 71 and 43rd Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday, the pedestrian was on the west side of the southbound lanes of U.S. 71.
