Law Enforcement Warns: Olathe, Kansas Violent Teen Crime Trending

The reactionary response to recent south JoCo violent crime trending upward amongst youngsters is to blame a demographic shift. Here's the problem with that . . . Look closely and notice that more "people of color" moving to Olathe has been the norm for more than 30 years . . . If anything, a greater number of Central American & Asian youngsters seem to comprise a more significant influx into this community -- And crime isn't always endemic in those communities.

Meanwhile . . . Credit to law enforcement for offering a measured but vague analysis amid cont'd violence. Check-it . . .

"There has been a disturbing number of homicides here in Olathe involving individuals under the age of 18," Johnson County district attorney Steve Howe said. "But we see no patterns at this point where we can attribute it to one certain thing, but it does concern us."

With 15-year-old charged in Olathe homicide, prosecutor concerned about surge of teen crime

OLATHE, Kan. - A 15-year-old from Olathe has been charged with premeditated first-degree murder. The Johnson County district attorney has already filed a motion to try the teen as an adult. "Premeditated murder is pre-thought before the killing that you intend to kill that individual," Steve Howe said, "that premeditation is a higher-level first-degree murder."
