Reality check . . . We noticed some friendly familiar faces but not really a packed house for this not-so controversial ballot issue.
In fairness, here's how detractors see the issue . . .
Amendment 4 is an authoritarian proposal on the November 8th ballot that would amend the Missouri Constitution to confer Missouri lawmakers the power for the next three years to increase the minimum level of funding Kansas City must devote to its state-controlled police force.
In other words, it grants politicians who are not from, and do not live anywhere near Kansas City, the power and authority to determine how Kansas Citians must spend their tax dollars.
Meanwhile . . .
This isn't a new issue and we notice very little political will to put the topic of "local control" on the ballot . . . Given that STL regrets their political folly with police.
Moreover . . .
Given that Missouri does in fact send cash to KC . . . This isn't quote taxation without representation despite that unchecked argument.
