Kansas City FBI says 2 young victims found during crackdown on child sex trafficking

SOURCE: Getty The FBI in Kansas City said two adolescent victims were found during a nationwide crackdown on child sex trafficking and child sexual exploitation.The campaign called "Operation Cross Country."The FBI said agents worked with state and local partners across the country during the two- week August campaign called "Operation Cross Country."Authorities said they identified and located 84 minor victims of child sex trafficking and child sexual exploitation offenses and found 37 actively missing children.


Kansas school district to pay $800,000 to student sexually abused by her teacher

Haylee Weissenbach sought to hold her high school accountable for her sexual abuse. Now she has. "I feel I have done something good," Weissenbach, 21, told The Star. Settling a federal lawsuit, the McLouth Unified School District has agreed to pay $800,000 to Weissenbach who, beginning when she was a 16-year-old junior and continuing into her senior year, was sexually abused by her high school science teacher.


Man stabbed near 49th, Agnes dies from injuries

Kansas City police are investigating after a man was stabbed late Saturday afternoon near 49th Street and Agnes Avenue. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital and died.The victim has been identified as 44-year-old William Lowe.Authorities said officers were called about 4 p.m.


Blue Springs man charged in Jan. 6 Capitol riot heads to trial in November

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Blue Springs man facing six federal charges for his alleged role in the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol is scheduled to head to trial in November. John G. Todd III, 32, was first charged in the incident in May.


Seventh teen charged in homicide at Black Bob Park in Olathe

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Prosecutors have charged a seventh teen in the shooting death of Marco Cardino that happened at the Black Bob Park in Olathe in May. The seventh teen is 17-years-old and was arrested on Aug. 4 and charged with first degree murder.


KCK police say weekend shooting is now a homicide after victim dies from his wounds

Detectives with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred late Sunday evening.Police say it is now classified as a homicide after the victim died from his wounds at the hospital.Officers were dispatched around 10 p.m. on a shooting call in the 1300 block of Ray Ave.


Kansas City police share suspect, vehicle photos from deadly hit-and-run

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Police Department has released images of a suspect and their vehicle from a fatal hit-and-run crash on Friday. The vehicle is a black Chevrolet Tahoe with no front license plate and front end damage. The SUV also has a sunroof.

Authorities were working under the impression that they were tailing a homicide suspect. Now investigators say the motorcycle driver was not involved.


KCMO police are asking for the public's help to find a man who has been missing since Aug. 10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - KCMO police are trying to find a 60-year-old man who has been missing since Aug.10, 2022. Robert Kilgore was last seen at 8 p.m. leaving on foot from the the 8300 block of Wabash Avenue, police said. Kilgore wore a white t-shirt with a white tank top underneath the t-shirt.
