A late death reported yesterday following a weekend stabbing spikes the local murder count even higher as we move toward late August and, yet again, surpass last year's historic murder pace.

Homicide 27th and Brooklyn
Just after 11:30pm, officers were called to the convenience store located at 2640 Brooklyn in regard to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located two victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds outside of the store. Officers began performing life-saving measures on one of the victims who had life-threatening injuries. EMS arrived and pronounced that victim deceased at the scene. The second victim was transported to the hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel responded to the scene. They will be processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for any witnesses.
