Kansas City 2022 Homicide #97: East Side Neighbor Kills Neighbor

In the upcoming week KCMO will likely hit 100 homicides so far this year and continue to outpace the historic number of killings reached in 2021 — The second highest deadly total in local history.

Here's the first report following a deadly afternoon altercation . . .

Homicide 3500 block of Garfield

Today just after 12 PM officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Garfield on a shooting. Upon arrival officers found an adult male who had been shot, lying on the front porch of a residence. That victim was taken to the hospital by EMS and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

A subject of interest, an adult male, was taken into custody at the scene. Based on preliminary information there was some type of dispute amongst neighbors that led to the shooting.  At this time we do not have reason to believe that there are any other suspects involved.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. KCPD investigating deadly shooting near Garfield Ave

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting near Garfield Avenue Sunday afternoon. Police responded to a shooting call in the 3500 block of Garfield after 12 p.m. and found an adult male lying on a front porch of a residence.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One person was killed in a shooting just after noon Sunday in the 3500 block of Garfield Avenue. Upon arrival, Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department officers found a man on the front porch of a residence with gunshot wounds. He was then taken to a local hospital and later pronounced deceased.
