The homicide count now stands less than 5 away from the century mark and outpaces last year's numbers in what was the 2nd worst year for killings in KCMO history.

Homicide 3000 block of E. 49th St.
Today at about 4 PM officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of E. 49th St. in regard to a cutting. When they arrived they found an adult male victim who had been stabbed. He was located in a stairwell in the apartment complex. He was transported to a local hospital by EMS and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. We do not have any suspect information at this time and are asking for the public’s help.
Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call the TIPS hotline at 474-TIPS, with up to a $25,000 reward for an arrest in this case.

Kansas City police are investigating after a man was stabbed late Saturday afternoon near 49th Street and Agnes Avenue. Police said the victim was taken to a hospital and died.Authorities said officers were called about 4 p.m.
