The latest news from police tonight continues a 7% increase in the deadly pace of local killings over last year's homicide total -- The second highest in KCMO history.

Homicide 5000 block of Olive
This evening just after 9 PM officers were dispatched to the 5000 block of Olive in regard to sounds of gunshots, which was then updated to a shooting.
When officers arrived they found an adult male victim inside of a residence who was suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers began CPR until EMS arrived. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. We do not have any suspect information at this time and are asking for the public’s help.
Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call the TIPS hotline at 474-TIPS, with up to a $25,000 reward for an arrest in this case.
