Cooling sites open across Kansas City ahead of hot weekend

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Kansas City metro is under a Heat Advisory Friday, and the heat is expected to continue into next week. Due to the high temperatures, Independence opened its Sermon Community Center at 201 North Dodgion St. The center will be open from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.


Wyandotte County abruptly closing Kansas Avenue Bridge until further notice

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Road crews in Wyandotte County are abruptly closing the Kansas Avenue Bridge by the state line until further notice. The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, Public Works Department said the bridge will close at 3 p.m. Friday. It's not clear when the bridge will reopen.

Police in Lenexa, Kansas, are asking for help in finding a missing 15-year-old girl.Police said Zamiyah McNeil was last seen on Tuesday afternoon in the area of East 58th Street and Woodson Road in Kansas City, Missouri. Authorities said they have information indicating that Zamiyah has run away.Anyone who has seen Zamiyah is asked to call 911.


KCMO nonprofit 'Entitled Learning' teaches inner-city children real life skills

KANSAS CITY, MO - Keylan Shape, 11, doesn't feel like there are a lot of Black entrepreneurs, and he plans on fixing that. He wants to be a real estate developer, and this summer, he's laying the right foundation The 11-year-old is one of dozens of young people between the ages of seven through 14 gaining real world exposure through a nonprofit called Entitled Learning.
